Play The African Djembe Drum: Traditional Rhythms of West Africa (In Person Only) Level 2. 

Offered as 6 week course or as drop in sessions. 

Dates:  Mondays.  June 19,  June 26,  July 3,  July 10,  July 17,  July 24

Time: 3 pm – 5 pm 

Maximum # of Tickets:  10

During this six week course, you will strengthen skills learned in the beginner course and add more advanced rhythms and techniques including moving between rhythm parts, Echauffement variations, call variations, and bell parts on the Djembe drum, which is a goblet shaped hand drum and is said to have been invented in the 12th century by the Mandinke tribe in what is now West Africa.. If you don’t have your own drum, one will be provided for you to use during classes.  Please note in your registration if you are bringing your own drum or not.

Registration Fee: $210 for all six classes or $40 per drop in class
Location: Circle of Miracles, 10 Beulah Road,  New Britain, Pa.

Note:  Entrance to Circle of Miracles is the 2nd driveway of the property on Beulah Road.  When you turn in to the driveway, please go around to the parking lot area that is at the rear of the building.  The entrance door is on the lower level of the building.

This class is in person only.  If for any reason you are unable to make one or more of the dates, you are permitted to schedule a makeup date directly with Instructor Jim Davidson

Drums are available to rent or borrow for class and to take home.  Please advise in advance if you would need a drum.

Jim Davidson is the co-founder of the Lambertville Drum Circle and has been teaching Djembe drum classes at Bucks County Community College since 2014.  Jim has been playing the Djembe drums for decades and has studied techniques under drum teachers like Marnady Keita, Famoudou Konate, Menes Yahudah, Baba Chuckie Joseph, Quint Lange, Chuck Wood, Essa Grayson, Glen Velez, and many others. Jim also sells and repairs drums and holds drum free drum circles in churches, rehab centers, art centers, parks, and the like.
