Experiences in Prison Ministry at the California Institution for Women (CIW), Corona

Yaca will share her personal experiences mentoring inmates in the CA prison system for over 10 years. Reluctant at first, she faced her fears and found that things are not always what they first appear to be. Hear how these experiences opened her heart to a deeper understanding of humanity and to the immense privilege of being a light in a dark place.

Bio:
Yaca is a 1958 Baby 😎, born in Philadelphia, lived there until 26, six years in Connecticut, 31 years in Southern California, currently live in Northern Utah. Divorced and widowed (2009), with three sons. She worked 41 years as programmer, Unix SysAdmin and DBA (basically, an IT nerd). Participated in two prison ministries at CIW from 2000-2019 and mentored three inmates – writing and visiting at least twice monthly.

Yaca has a bachelors in Sociology from Temple University and a master’s in theology from Loyola Marymount.
