Sunday Celebration! When the Forest is Your Therapist with Judy Rossman

Mar 10 2024
10:00 am - 11:30 am

The Forest is the Therapist, the Guide Opens the Door. I am a certified Forest Therapy Guide trained by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, ANFT. I am excited to share with you my journey and all about this practice which evolved most recently from the Japanese Shinrin Yoku which literally translates as forest bath although its roots go further back to our evolution with nature and the web of interbeing. Although the human health benefits are manifold and well-documented, I will focus on the wonderfully relational, sensory, and imaginal aspects of this practice. We currently live in a “tamed” world — digitized, urbanized, polarized, just to name a few — and have forgotten our inherent wholeness and heart-centered and embodied knowledge. Forest therapy is a practice of remembering our relationships to self, others, community, earth, spirit, and the more-than-human world; relationships grounded in authenticity and reciprocity.

My “tamed” world story is that I am a life-long resident of Bucks County and have a deep connection to and bodyful sense of this place. I was a high school English teacher for thirty years and have a Master’s degree in English from Arcadia University. I continue to learn and grow from the inside out like a tree in ever expanding circles.
