DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday, March 10, a first draft email regarding the upcoming community meeting was accidentally sent to the Circle community before it was reviewed by the entire Board of Directors. We regret any confusion this may have caused.\nAt the upcoming Community Meeting on March 15, to be on Zoom at 1 PM after celebration, the agenda is to discuss the term Steward, which was instituted some years ago to designate people who chose a step to become formal members of Circle. At that time, the hope was this would signal a greater commitment and only Stewards could vote for board positions during the biennial (every two years) election process. Anyone is welcome at Circle, no demand for “formal membership” is needed but Steward was thought to offer this opportunity and responsibility.\nThe process of taking Stewardship has not been dealt with for quite a while and the Community’s input is needed concerning this. Do we still want to retain, and thus revive, the position of “Steward”. Would the community rather not have the designation? Or is there some other process people would suggest to in some fashion delineate membership.\nThis conversation occurs in the context of the upcoming board elections in May. The bylaws stipulate board members in this period are to be voted upon by the community. Do people want someone who comes to Circle very irregularly to have the same impact as those more invested? This is the kind of question the meeting seeks to address.\nThis meeting also offers us the opportunity to talk about the elections, what it means to be on the board, and how board decisions are made.\nWe look forward to your presence on Sunday, March 15 at 1pm on Zoom.
